World in Progress: Rio Doce after the toxic flood

Along the Rio Doce in Brazil, life turned upside down after half a year ago, the Fundão dam collapsed, catapulting 50 million tons of toxic iron tailings into the Doce River. The disaster left communities swallowed by mud, the local water contaminated, and plants and animals dead. For many along the river, the government response has been lackluster, and locals are demanding solutions.
