The Winter Youth Olympics start on Friday in Lillehammer, Norway. A a day before the games kick off, International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach was on location to warn tomorrow's stars of the dangers that doping could pose.
The IOC is meeting in Peru this week, with the highlight meant to be the announcement of the hosts for the 2024 and 2028 Olympics. But recent events may cause delegates to have more pressing issues on their minds.
During a recent visit to Berlin, IOC President Thomas Bach called for the rights to host the 2024 and the 2028 Olympics to be awarded at the same time. Bach also said that the IOC needed to adjust to a new zeitgeist.
Hein Verbruggen, the former head of the International Cycling Union, has died. He was in charge of the UCI during the reign of disgraced doping offender Lance Armstrong.
Russia's doping scandal has been up for discussion in Germany's parliament. MPs sought to stress that they wouldn't accept the same IOC inaction of the Rio Games at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
