World number one Serena Williams is on track for her 20th Grand Slam after defeating older sister Venus 6-4, 6-3 on Centre Court.

Serena finished the match in one hour and seven minutes to progress to the quarterfinals at the All England Club as she looks to add to her five Wimbledon titles.

Serena has now won six of the last seven meetings with Venus and leads 15-11 in career wins - the first clash between the pair was at the Australian Open in 1998.

Serena hit three aces in the first set, dusting off the frustration in the last-round when local Heather Watson pushed her to the limit. The world number one broke her 35-year-old sister to love in the second set and secured a spot in the last-eight.

Serena is the third American female in the quarterfinals following wins Coco Vandeweghe and Madison Keys earlier in the day.

Meanwhile, former Wimbledon champion Andy Murray is through to the quarterfinals after a 7-6(7) 6-4 5-7 6-4 win over Ivo Karlovic, whilst Stan Wawrinka is into the last-eight, beating Belgian David Goffin in three sets.

World number one Novak Djokovic continues his match with South African Kevin Anderson on Tuesday afternoon. Anderson led two sets before the Serbian launched a fightback before the match was halted.
