150 scientists and health experts have called to postpone the Summer Olympics in Rio. The international group warns new evidence shows the Zika virus could be picked up by visitors and spread rapidly around the world. WHO has rejected the call.
Marielle Franco, a rising star of Brazilian politics, has been murdered in what appeared to be a political assassination. Franco had accused Rio's police of killing innocent people in their battle with drug gangs.

Brazilian authorities have detained one of Rio de Janeiro's most notorious drug traffickers. Some 3,000 officers and troops were involved in the operation to arrest the man known to most by his nickname, "Rogerio 157."
