Iraq's premier has warned militants of the self-styled "Islamic State" to surrender "or be killed." Iraqi forces have made significant gains over the past year, culminating in the liberation of Mosul.
UN experts say the "Islamic State" is still capable of sending funds to supporters and motivating global attacks. "Europe remained a priority region" for IS attacks, they said, despite developments in Iraq and Syria.
In August 2014, "Islamic State" militants launched what the UN calls a genocidal campaign against the religious and ethnic minority in northern Iraq. Despite the ouster of IS, the Yazidis' ordeal is far from over.
Interpol has received an apparent list of 173 potential suicide bombers for the Islamic State - which includes the name of one German. The list was reportedly recovered by Iraqi troops during the battle for Mosul.
