Volkswagen has said it will pay nearly 2,000 Brazilian employees compensation amounting to two years pay if they agree to give up their jobs. The firm hopes it can thus avoid a strike that has been looming since the firm said it would cut 4,000 jobs in Brazil. Last week the conflict between VW and unions escalated after VW said it would fire workers who went on strike.
