German police have taken Porsche manager Jörg Kerner into custody, amid concerns that he could flee the country. The emissions scandal has spread from Volkswagen's core VW division to many other brands.
Volkswagen (VW) has trumpeted a bright start to 2018 and outlined massive spending plans for electric vehicle and autonomous driving ventures in China, ahead of the Beijing auto show due to open on Wednesday.
The German carmaker has initiated the deepest changes to its management since the diesel emissions scandal of late 2015, replacing its CEO and establishing a corporate structure designed to speed up decision making.
Investigators have raided offices and homes of former and current managers at German carmaker Porsche. Prosecutors said the searches were carried out on suspicion of diesel emissions fraud.
