In November 2016 a plane carrying Brazilian football team Chapecoense to the final of the Copa Sudamericana crashed. It was an accident that almost wiped out the whole team. Kick off! joins Chape’s fans for the club’s first game since the tragedy.
Bastian Schweinsteiger, Neymar and Pele are among those who have expressed their condolences to the Chapecoense players who died in a plane crash in Colombia. The Brazilian club were en route to a Copa Sudamericana game.
Alan Ruschel, one of three Chapecoense players to survive the plane crash which killed 71 people last year, will make his comeback in a glamour friendly against Barcelona. He had back surgery following the disaster.
Chapecoense are not one of Brazil's better-known teams. However, they had enjoyed much success in recent years and were on their way to the biggest match in the club's history when their plane crashed in Colombia.
A plane carrying a Brazilian football team, journalists, and nine crew members has crashed in Colombia, killing 71 and leaving six survivors. Brasilia has announced three days of national mourning.
