Vietnam: Project Manager Honored

In Vietnam, DW-AKADEMIE project manager Heidrun Speckmann has been recognized for her work in establishing a digital audio archive at Radio The Voice of Vietnam (VOV).

VOV president Professor Vu Van Hien presented Speckmann with a certificate of merit for her commitment to DW-AKADEMIE’s partner broadcaster. The project manager was given special recognition for her consulting work in the area of personnel development, and for establishing the digital audio archive and thus preserving parts of Vietnam’s cultural heritage.

Heidrun Speckmann has been advising the Vietnamese broadcaster VOV on behalf of DW-AKADEMIE since September 2009. The engineer’s assignment is financed by CIM – Germany’s placement agency for development cooperation. As head of the European archive team, Speckmann thanked the broadcaster for the award and for the trust it had placed in the foreign consultants. She said VOV had shown creativity and innovation in the process and had possessed the courage to make difficult decisions.

VOV President Professor Vu Van Hien expressed his own gratitude, emphasizing the project’s success had been based on the correct strategy, financial assistance, the staff’s hard work and cooperation with DW-AKADEMIE. VOV is to extend its cooperation with DW-AKADEMIE with a project expanding the archive at the television broadcaster, VOVTV.

In addition to Heidrun Speckmann, three additional DW-AKADEMIE consultants, Mary Ellen Kitchens, Stefani Renner and Nadja Wallaskovits, and three VOV experts were also recognized for planning and implementing Radio The Voice of Vietnam’s digital audio archive from 2003-2009.
