The carnival in the Swiss city of Basel rings in the 40 days of Lent. Its rituals and costumes are so unique that, in December, 2017, UNESCO listed the festival as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The Weissenhof Estate is a classic example of the "international" style of modern architecture. Now, two of the estate buildings designed by Le Corbusier have been nominated to become UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Belgian beer culture was added to UNESCO's list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in November 2016. It is now being celebrated at the 10th Beer Festival in Bruges.
