Cologne prosecutors have launched an investigation into the RTL network's hugely popular reality TV show "I'm a Celebrity….Get Me Out of Here!" following the alleged death of a number of goldfish. The show sends celebrity contestants into the Australian jungle to perform various tasks to win daily food rations. One viewer submitted a complaint relating to an episode in which goldfish were killed in a challenge where pop star Daniel Küblböck had to put his head in an aquarium. "He was so disgusted and shocked that the aquarium tipped over, and the person alleges the fish fell out and died. By law we have to follow up the complaint," chief prosecutor Regine Appenroth told Reuters news agency, adding "the stars themselves haven't made any complaints, but a private individual said they were mistreated." Prosecutors will now be examining whether the show featured cruelty to animals. RTL spokesman Christoph Körfer, meanwhile, maintains the fish were picked up and survived.
