Freezing winter temperatures have not slowed the steady arrival of refugees in Europe. One of the quickest routes for asylum seekers is from Turkey to Greece. DW accompanied the Turkish coast guard on a patrol in the waters off Chios.
As smuggling activity in the Aegean Sea has reached the highest level since last fall, the Greek islands are once again becoming overcrowded. Diego Cupolo reports that most new arrivals come via Turkey.
