Michael BärFebruary 17, 2011

Sevket Sahintas, a taxi driver in Istanbul, photographs outsiders -- beggars, hustlers, and drug addicts.

When Sahintas drives through the city at night, he always has his camera with him. In raw black-and-white photos he documents the dark side of the glamorous city. His photos have made Sahintas famous, but not rich. He still drives his taxi. Many down-and-out people respect him because his interest is not voyeuristic.
