President Bashir has responded to the ICC announcement by saying the court has no jurisdiction over Sudan. It issued warrants for the arrest of two other members of the Sudanese government last year, calling for them to be handed over. But that attempt proved fruitless. As revealed by demonstrations on the streets of Khartoum, the president is still popular at home.
