Illegal immigration is up since Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump outlined his immigration policy
The US president has signed an order to end his administration's policy of separating families at the border after immense domestic and international pressure. The administration began enforcing the policy in May.
Nearly 2,000 children have been separated from their families at the US-Mexico border in six weeks. Despite widespread condemnation, the Trump administration defended the policy, saying it was just enforcing the law.
A White House policy that has split nearly 2,000 migrant children from their families has drawn outrage nationwide, including a rare public comment from Melania Trump. The UN called the practice "unconscionable."
The US first lady has visited the Mexican border where children have been displaced by the country's immigration crisis. Her trip came a day after President Donald Trump agreed to stop splitting up families.
