At this year’s furniture fair in Milan, Italy presents products that may well become the design icons of the future. 2,500 designers and manufacturers are here with their creations. German design expert Mateo Kries shows us around.

Giorgio Armani stands for clean, tailored elegance. The Italian Fashion designer is renowned for his gowns in subdued colors revealing little skin. He’s been presenting his collections in Paris regularly since 2005.
School uniforms designed by Armani and costing more than $700 a pop have caused outrage among parents and even MPs in Tokyo. Taimei Elementary School in the posh Ginza district is to introduce the outfits in April.
He makes Japan-inspired china and relates his metal chair to car fenders. Young German designer Stefan Diez is influenced by his time in Asia, but pays tribute to German craftmanship. His work is on show in Cologne.
