Some 6,500 people were forced to leave their homes in Oranienburg, eastern Germany Wednesday so that demining experts could defuse two World War II bombs, local radio said. Rail traffic in the city was cut at 8 a.m. and was expected to remain blocked until 4 p.m. when the bombs are expected to have been defused, German public broadcaster RBB said on its Web site. The 250 kilogram (550 pound) bombs were discovered recently near the city sewage treatment plant.
