In1960 the West German air force introduced the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter to its fleet. No other fighter jet was as fast, flew so high - or had such a poor safety record. More than 100 pilots lost their lives.

Meike Lietz-Butzer is one of the last bow makers in Germany. A trained woodturner, she lives near Wolfsburg and earns her living making bows and arrows, which she sells for up to 500 euros.
In 1895, the Skladanowsky brothers caused a sensation when they showed the world's first motion picture in Berlin. It's now stored at the Federal Film Archive in Hoppegarten, along with roughly 350,000 other films.
