Striking pilots at Lufthansa can earn €200,000 a year or more, when special bonuses are counted, and have great retirment packages. So many wonder how they can dare to go on strike. But becoming a commercial pilot can be a costly undertaking. And in the first few years on the job, it barely pays off.
