Paris, Brussels, Berlin, Manchester and now another attack in Barcelona. European cities have been increasingly targeted by Islamist extremists in recent years.
At least two people have been shot. The shooter, a man in his 70s, has turned himself in after special forces surrounded his apartment.
A 17-year-old reportedly shot his headmaster with a shotgun and injured two other students. The headmaster remained calm during the attack, trying to assuage the shooter.
