There’s good evidence that lifestyle changes are to blame for the rise in near-sightedness. One major cause is how much outdoor light our eyes are exposed to. A lack of daylight can be detrimental to our eyesight and lead to near-sightedness.
Rates of nearsightedness the world over are rising. Are we demanding too much of our eyes? We focus on monitors and smartphones and things close up. We talked to Dr. Frank Schaeffel about the connection.
