The country's parliament has approved a bill giving control of the highest court to politicians instead of judges. All of the court's current judges face dismissal. The bill has drawn condemnation from the European Union and led to street protests.
Poland's nationalist-conservative Law and Justice Party replaced Prime Minister Beata Szydlo with Finance Minister Mateusz Morawiecki after weeks of speculation. The move comes ahead of an important parliament vote.
