Deforestation, land grabs, exploitation: in the province of Ucayali in Peru, corruption is widespread. International investors have snapped up huge tracts of land using dubious methods that leave local farmers destitute.

Peru's lawmakers have voted overwhelmingly to launch impeachment proceedings against President Pedro Kuczynski. The president is under fire for allegedly taking bribes from Brazilian construction giant Odebrecht.
A court has ruled that ex-President Kuczynski will not be allowed to leave the country pending a corruption investigation. He's not the only Peruvian leader facing allegations of shady business practices.
