Female filmmakers in Africa abound, but are often not heard about. This year’s film festival ‘Films Femmes Afrique’ held in Dakar in February paid tribute to them on and off the screen: more than 50 films on African women were showcased over 7 days and dozens of young female filmmakers came to represent their films.
