In a short address on Monday, the 81-year-old monarch urged the new ministers to work towards bringing peace and order in the country after months of political unrest.

The Democrat party leader, Abhisit, was elected prime minister by parliament last week, after an earlier court verdict disbanded the ruling party loyal to ousted former leader Thaksin Shinawatra.

His cabinet includes some controversial names such as the foreign minister, Kasit Piromya, who was a staunch supporter of anti-government protests last month.
