Testing Times for India-US Ties

India's government is set to hold talks with its communist allies on Wednesday in a last-ditch effort to save its landmark nuclear energy agreement with the US. The communist parties, who support the ruling alliance, are against the deal, arguing that it might damage India's independent foreign policy. They have warned they will bring down the government, if it goes ahead with the pact.
