The international debate on human rights sometimes neglects the focus on education, but education is a fundamental right, as stated in Article 26 of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is key to the full development of the human personality and is intended to be free, compulsory and accessible to all on the basis of merit.

Educational disadvantage is perhaps the world’s most fundamental injustice and persists in countries at all stages of development, severely limiting children’s life prospects. In today’s world the challenges we face — whether relating to the environment, public safety, disease, or economic welfare — are global in nature. Evidence shows that a lack of education exacerbates these challenges, while increasing educational levels strengthens governments, increases tolerance, decreases terrorism and generates advances in science, health and society that benefit all of us.

Teach For All’s global network seeks to expand educational opportunities worldwide. The national organizations that comprise the network recruit the most promising future leaders in their countries to teach for two years in high-need schools and to work throughout their lives to address educational need. Transformed by their classroom experience, these individuals become inspired and informed to continue to reform education in their countries from across professional sectors over the long term. Teach For All launched in 2007 in response to requests from social entrepreneurs worldwide who were seeking to adapt the model to their countries’ contexts. Teach For All provides direct services and fosters a powerful network among its partner organizations with the goal of maximizing their scale, the effectiveness of their teachers and alumni and their organizational strength.

Teach For All works in close cooperation with a variety supporters. In 2010 DPDHL launched a partnership with Teach For All that not only involves financial donations, but offers a volunteering element for DPDHL employees in Peru, Chile, Argentina, India, Spain and Brazil.

“With Deutsche Post DHL’s support, Teach For All will be well-positioned to improve educational opportunities for thousands of children internationally, thereby changing the life trajectories of underserved students around the world.” – Wendy Kopp (CEO & Co-founder, Teach For All)

Cooperation between business and NGOs often raises questions and critical attention in the media, so this workshop will communicate the main reasons of the partnership, its direction towards an educational movement and the objectives both partners aim to achieve.
