With just over two weeks to go before Russians vote for a new President, most observers say the result is practically set in stone already. The incumbent Vladimir Putin's chosen successor, Dmitry Medvedev, is streets ahead in the opinion polls. The Kremlin has barred its critics from standing and Medvedev hasn't even had to run a campaign in the classic sense: the national media have done it for him:
