American-German businessman Martin Richenhagen is far from happy about the Trump administration's aggressive trade policies. "We are surprised on a daily basis by strange initiatives," he told DW.
Beijing has announced retaliatory measures after the US imposed fresh tariffs on Chinese technology products. Beijing announced tariffs on a $34 billion list of American goods including soybeans and whisky.
The move follows Mexico's announcement that it would introduce retaliatory duties on US products. The European Union and Canada have already filed WTO complaints over the controversial steel and aluminum tariffs.
The European Commission has announced that its answer to higher US tariffs on steel and aluminum will come as early as July. Brussels said it was finalizing the list of US exports to be affected by the countermeasure.
