Take the stairs: Incidental exercise

It can be hard finding the time for a workout in the gym or a run around the park. But everyone can make sure they avoid elevators and escalators and take the stairs whenever possible.

Taking the stairs is an underrated form of exercise. Experts say that walking up 400 steps has the same effect as going for a 15-minute jog. It boosts circulation and stamina and strengthens muscles in the buttocks, thighs and calves. Interval training is also an option – take one flight of stairs slowly, then the next flight as fast as possible. Or take two steps at a time!
