A further round of important talks between employers and labor unions begin today in the German city of Kassel to discuss the demands of three million workers and employees in public services. The country’s largest service industry union, Ver.di is demanding a payrise of three percent and has said that it will consider the talks as failed if employers don’t make a fair-enough offer. Ver.di has already gone ahead with a strike call that has paralyzed parts of Germany’s public services. Large traffic jams were witnessed in several German cities yesterday while air traffic in Frankfurt and Munich was severely hindered.
