Greek journalists and public transportation workers are involved in the latest 24-hour strikes in Greece, aimed at protesting against austerity measures to rein in Greece's debt.

In Greece, the latest 24-hour strikes have left a hole in media coverage as journalists have walked off the job.

On Thursday, no television news or radio programs are being broadcast, and online news outlets have not been updated since early Thursday morning. Friday editions of the country's newspapers are also not scheduled to be printed.

In addition to stopping the presses, Greek public transportation workers have also gone on strike. Currently, there are no bus, subway or tram services in Athens.

The walkouts are the latest in a series of 24-hour strikes protesting the Greek government's decision to cut salaries and pensions for public-sector employees. The age of retirement for some workers is also being raised.

Greece is attempting to get its budget debt under control as it receives billions of euros in aid from the European Union and International Monetary Fund.
