Thousands of people are currently fleeing war and terror in their home countries - just like Elombo Bolayela, who came to Germany in 1992 from what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He is now a choir leader and local politician in Bremen.
The Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR), continue to destabilize eastern Congo and wage war against Rwanda, with hope that one day they will topple the government of President Paul Kagame.
Campaigners across Germany have been on the streets to take part in the annual Easter tradition of marching for peace. Protesters called for, among other things, an end to arms exports and uranium enrichment for weapons.
