Rebel leader Riek Machar has finally returned to the South Sudanese capital Juba, after a delay that threatened a peace deal between government and opposition forces. But independent monitors have yet to verify the withdrawal of government troops.
More than 1 million people fleeing South Sudan's civil war have sought refuge in Uganda, according to the United Nations. Uganda has called for help with housing and feeding the newcomers.
