Frank Smyth is the journalist security coordinator for the Committee to Protect Journalists. He has covered armed conflicts, human rights and organized crime in Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. Working for Human Rights Watch, he documented the arming of Rwanda before its genocide and the role of U.S. agencies in establishing covert intelligence networks in Colombia. Smyth has reported for CBS News Radio and written for The Village Voice, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and Foreign Affairs. He is co author of “Dialogue and Armed Conflict” and a contributor to “Crimes of War”.
