The gunman began his rampage on Friday by setting a house on fire, killing two people there before making his way to Santa Monica College, according to Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks.

The gunman then opened fire as he moved several blocks toward the college campus, killing two more people. Once on campus, he entered the library and opened fire again. Two people were shot dead at the college.

"The officers came in and directly engaged the suspect and he was shot and killed on the scene," Seabrooks said, identifying the man as 25 to 30 years old, wearing all black and what appeared to be a ballistic vest.

"We are not convinced 100 percent that the suspect who was killed operated in a solo or alone capacity," Seabrooks added.

Police combed the campus for another shooter and took a second suspect into custody. According to the Associated Press, the second suspect also wore all black and a sweatshirt with the words "Life is Gamble" written on the back of it.
