Shifting the spotlight: mobilizing those left behind

hosted by UN Sustainable Development Goals Campaign

The UN SDG Action Campaign, a special initiative of the UN Secretary-General administered by the UN Development Programme, supports and encourages efforts to achieve the 17 SDGs and inspire a movement to make their achievement a reality.

Media is playing a major role in challenging the narrative about progress in the developing countries and bringing awareness to the people who have thus far often been left out of the conversation. They ask: how do we engage those millions left further behind to engage in the conversation? How do we make people shift from observers to doers? This interactive session, hosted by Mitchell Toomey, Global Director of the UN Sustainable Development Goals Action Campaign, will focus on bringing together media professionals and the UN to discuss the innovative tools available, opportunities and challenges as they seek answers to these questions.
