Guillermo del Toro's "The Shape of Water" leads the Golden Globes nominations with seven nods. Germany is well represented with Fatih Akin and Hans Zimmer among the nominees.
The Palme d'Or is considered to be the most prestigious award in the film industry. A total of 19 directors are competing this year for the award for best film. But like the rest of the world, Cannes is in shock.
A total of 85 countries are in the competition for the 2017 Academy Award for best foreign language film. Germany is also on the list with the comedy "Toni Erdmann."
