Schröder Doesn’t Want a “Terminator” in His Cabinet
August 14, 2003German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder would rather not have support from action film heroes such as "Terminator" Arnold Schwarzenegger in his cabinet or in German politics. Speaking during a television interview on Thursday, Schröder said he didn’t need the help of such a superhero to push through necessary reforms "because I understand and accept that our constitution envisions special guidelines, within which politics has a role." The chancellor added, "this constitution cannot and should not be allowed to be suspended through a ‘terminator’." The Austrian Schwarzenegger, a multimillion-dollar Hollywood hero and a former multiple-award-winning bodybuilder, is now preparing for a high-profile run for governor of California. Other gubernatorial candidates on the final list include Hustler publisher Larry Flynt and a porn actress who is pledging to wire every room of the governor’s mansion with live Web cams.
