Hamburg's populist, right-wing Law and Order party has voted to expell founding member Ronald Schill from its ranks. The decision, which was taken on Tuesday night with immediate effect, followed accusations that Schill was damaging the party's reputation with repeated verbal attacks on senate members. But Hamburg's former interior minister has vowed not to accept the decision, claiming he will use his legal rights to oppose it. In an interview with Wednesday's Hamburger Abendblatt, Schill said the party had acted unlawfully and violated its own articles. When asked if he might now go ahead and form a new party, Schill said he would announce his next steps over the coming days.
