San Sebastián Festival Screens German Films

One German film and five German co-productions will be shown at the San Sebastián International Film Festival in Spain this year. Germany-based Georgian director Dito Tsintsadze's film "Gun-Shy" ("Schussangst") and the German-Dutch co-production "Supertex," directed by Jan Schütte and based on the book by Dutch author Leon de Winter, will compete in the official section of previously unscreened films. Four other international German co-productions, will be screened in and out of the competition. The San Sebastián festival, which runs September 18-27, is one of the most prestigious film competitions in Europe. Another German film, "Good-bye Lenin!", which has been a huge success at home, will be suggested by the Export-Union of German Cinema to compete for the Oscar for best foreign language film at the Academy Awards in late February. The U.S. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will choose five films to compete for the award in January.
