Every day, the police arrest Nuriye Gülmen for protesting in public against her dismissal. She is one of tens of thousands of academics who were dismissed after last summer's failed coup. It's a battle of wills between her and the Turkish state.

Every day, the police arrest Nuriye Gülmen for protesting in public against her dismissal. She is one of tens of thousands of academics who were dismissed after last summer's failed coup. Gülmen had been teaching at a university in Konya 300 kilometers away from Ankara. But she's taking her protest to the capital. Every day on a downtown square, she draws attention to her plight with hand-lettered signs and condemns the injustices of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's regime. And every day, the police arrest her and release her again a few hours later. Now she's been arrested over 30 times. But she's determined to carry on. We were on hand to witness this indomitable woman's own form of civil disobedience. How does she see her actions? What does she hope to achieve? What, if anything, is she afraid of?
