Shoppers in Qatar fear the country will face supply shortages after several of its neighboring countries announced the severing of diplomatic ties.
In a DW interview, Qatar's foreign minister has slammed Saudi Arabia for "destabilizing the region." The minister said Riyadh is using what it calls security concerns as a "smoke screen" to harm Qatar's economy.
Iran has sent cargo planes laden with vegetables and fruits to Qatar as the Gulf country faces a food shortage. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt cut ties with Qatar over its alleged links with terrorist groups.
Saudi officials have told the flagship airline to close its offices in the kingdom within 48 hours. A diplomatic crisis between Qatar and its neighbors is worsening over what Riyadh says is Doha's support for extremism.
Several countries have accused Qatar of supporting Islamist groups, including the Muslim Brotherhood. Gulf states have demanded that Qataris leave their countries and return home.
