Vladimir Putin says Turkey’s downing of a Russian jet was an attempt to suck up to the United States. Addressing some 1400 vetted journalists, he described the act as “hostile” and ruled out any possibility of improving relations with the country.
The Syrian opposition and forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad are not the only groups fighting in the conflict. Other countries have also intervened to pursue their own interests.
