In the city of Braunschweig, a new kind of municipal bus is undergoing initial tests. The buses can quickly charge the batteries that power them in the terminal and at certain stations -- without the need for electric cables.
Two magnetically coupled spools, one in the pavement and one on the underbody of the bus, make it possible. Businessman Charly Schorr wants to take this technology a step further. He wants to use magnetic induction to power electric cars from underneath the street without the need for a cable connection.
