Herbert Grönemeyer is one of Germany's best known musicians. He’s now out with his fourteenth studio album - and PopXport takes a look. We also meet Rammstein guitarist Richard Kruspe, who’s launching a new album under his own outfit. And we bring you tunes from Adel Tawil, Sasha, and Andreas Bourani.
Herbert Grönemeyer's first solo album came out 35 years ago. Since then, he’s gone on to release more than 25 platinum albums in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. But he isn't resting on his laurels. Last year he toured North America with an album with lyrics in English. His latest album is "Dauernd Jetzt”. We talk to Grönemeyer in our portrait.
Richard Kruspe is the man whose guitar produces the wall of sound for the band Rammstein. He also fronts another metal band, Emigrate. For his new album, "Silent So Long", the Berlin musician gathered a star-studded lineup, including Peaches, Marilyn Manson, and Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead. PopXport meets Richard Kruspe for an exclusive interview.
Andreas Bourani's song "Auf uns" was the anthem of Germany’s soccer World Cup appearance this past summer. But the singer from Augsburg also has a more contemplative side. His new single "Auf anderen Wegen" is a sentimental ballad about a failed relationship, and it’s brought Bourani back into the German Top 10.
Pop charmer Sasha has gold and platinum albums to his name, along with a cluster of Echo and Bambi awards. Recently he’s been touring with his rockabilly band Dick Brave. Now Sasha's back with the single "Good Days".
As half of the pop duo Ich+Ich, Adel Tawil sold millions of album. His first solo album "Lieder" has been on the German charts for a year. And now he's released a live album with the same name, recorded in Münster this September. We check out a single, called "Kartenhaus".
In the early 1990s, Hamburg DJ and producer Alex Christensen gave Germany its first techno megahit. Calling himself U 96, he mixed the title melody of the classic film "Das Boot" with electronic beats - and took the international charts by storm.
Here's where we present the hottest new releases.
