Pope Francis led his first Easter services since becaming pontiff, as millions of Christians worldwide marked Good Friday.
The Pope's comments have come as fighting resumes in Syria. Pope Francis is meeting religious leaders in Assisi - the birthplace of his papal namesake, Saint Francis.
Pope Francis has held a special Mass to honor Father Jacques Hamel, the French priest killed by Islamic extremists at his altar in July. The pontiff urged all religions to denounce killing in God's name as "satanic."
Mother Teresa has been made a saint by Pope Francis. Though Germans who spoke to DW lauded the move, many acknowledged that her relevance has faded somewhat with time.
Mother Teresa founded a holy order and was a Nobel Peace Prize recipient. Many people already saw her as a saint during her lifetime. However, others are deeply critical of the nun and the way she carried out her work.
