Aubameyang nets hattrick as Dortmund put six past Gladbach

What a performance that was from Dortmund. It's hard to think of another team that's put in a more emphatic display in the Bundesliga this season. 

They lost their perfect defensive record but their incisiveness in attack was a joy to watch. Aubameyang and Philipp will take the headlines but there were impressive performances throughout the side - Julian Weigl was particularly good on his return from injury and capped it off with with a wonderful goal. It's a toss up whether his strike or Philipp's first was the goal of the match.

They seem to have a greater depth of squad than this time last year and Philipp and Yarmolenko (who didn't even play today) have settled excellently. 

The only flies in the ointment are the vulnerability they showed on the counter today, something that also reared it's head in the defeat to Spurs, and the sense that they haven't played any of the Bundesliga big boys yet.

It'll be fascinating to see how they get on against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

88' -- Toprak is down getting treated after colliding with Bartra under a high ball. Looks like he'll be ok though.

84' -- Sokratis leaves the pitch to a huge ovation. Marc Bartra on.

79' -- GOAL! This time it's Weigl, who takes down a ball on his knee then arcs a brilliant dipping strike in to the top corner.

65' -- GOAL! Borussia Dortmund concede their first goal of the season in their sixth Bundesliga game. Thorgan Hazard cuts the ball back from the right hand side and it travels all the way through to Lars Stindl at the back post who makes it 5-1. No celebration from the Gladbach captain.

62' -- GOAL! Aubameyang has his hat-trick! Mahmoud Dahoud finds the Gabonese with a throughball, he takes it around the goalkeeper and, just when it seems he's taken it too far, he screws the ball back into the top corner. Emphatic from Borussia Dortmund.

61' -- Aubameyang skips past a couple of defenders and tries to play the ball out to Christian Pulisic but the American is just offside.

59' -- The game has just slowed a touch, which is understandable given the scoreline.

55' -- Zakaria cracks a decent effort just wide for Gladbach before a brilliant run by Pulisic almost gets Aubameyang in.

53' -- Dortmund appeal for a penalty as Pulisic is taken down by Sippel but the American was in an offside position.

49' -- GOAL! Another for Aubameyang, with an assist for the post. The striker headed against the upright then tucked home the rebound on the volley with the keeper stranded. 4-0!

46' -- And we're off again. It'll be interesting to see if Dortmund keep their foot on the gas with Real Madrid coming to town on Tuesday. 

HALF TIME. A seriously impressive half from Dortmund who were utterly dominant and deserve their three goal lead. Gladbach had a couple of moments on the break but the speed of Dortmund's movement and the quality of their execution was just too much for their opponents. The through balls from Weigl and Sokratis for the first and third were gorgeous. Is there any way back for Gladbach? We'll see shortly.

45' -- GOAL! Aubameyang wasn't going to be denied for much longer and he gets number three just before the break. Another brilliantly measured through ball, this time from Sokratis, finds Philipp, who squares it to Aubameyang to knock home. Game over, surely.

43' -- Frantic stuff now. First Sippel tips Aubameyang's header on to the post, then Gladbach break - Hazard does well to cut inside and test Bürki before firing the rebound over.

41' -- A rare foray upfield for Gladbach comes to nothing after a communication breakdown between Raffael and Stindl.

38' -- GOAL! There's number two - for both Dortmund and Philipp. Former Dortmund defender GInter gave the ball away to former Gladbach man Dahoud. He fed Toljan down the left, who cut it back in to Philipp's path and the forward slammed it home with his left foot. 

32' -- That Hazard chance aside, Gladbach haven't laid a glove on Dortmund. It's been very impressive from the hosts. They nearly grab the second as Aubameyang is crowded out as he tries to get on the end of a cross. The Südtribüne is bouncing.

28' -- GOAL! Yep. It was close. And thoroughly deserved. A lovely through ball from Weigl set Aubameyang free down the right, he clipped a ball back and Philipp swept a volley home from 10 yards out. A lovely finish to a lovely move.

25' -- Aubameyang twice goes desperately close. First Sippel does well to block a close range effort after a lovely cushioned header from Götze. Then the Gabonese frontman hits the post at the back stick from the resulting corner. It feels like an opener is close.

24' -- Sippel makes another save. This time it's from Pulisic. The American's shot deflected off Vestergaard and almost looped over the keeper. But he just managed to tip it over the bar.

22' -- Big news. We have a picture of Christoph Kramer's mask. 

19' -- Sokratis goes close for Dortmund. And not with his head. The burly Greek defender wins a challenge on the edge of the box and volleys towards goal. But Sippel is behind it and pushes away.

16' -- Dortmund still bossing the ball but still struggling to penetrate. They've had about 85 per cent of the ball but Gladbach have had the game's only chance.

11' -- Suddenly Gladbach escape their own half and break rapidly upfield. Hazard is on the end of the move but drives straight at Bürki, it was a tough angle though.

9' -- Philipp lifts in a cross from the left but can't find Aubameyang. They've not tested Sippel in the Gladbach goal yet but BVB look confident.

5' -- The hosts absolutely bossing the ball - over 90% possession so far. But it's what Arsene Wenger calls "sterile domination" at this stage.

2' -- Dortmund knocking it about nicely early on. We've also had a first sighting of Christoph Kramer in a mask that's not too dissimiliar to Bane, of Batsman baddie fame. The midfielder was involved in a clash of heads in the week.

The Südtribüne is in full voice, as well it might be - Dortmund are still yet to concede a league goal this season and must be heavy favorites for this one. 

Julian Weigl makes his first start after recovering from a fractured ankle but Andriy Yarmolenko starts on the bench as Peter Bosz shuffles his pack. Maximilian Philipp takes his place in attack alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Christian Pulisic. 

Only one change for Borussia Mönchengladbach from their 2-0 win over Stuttgart on Tuesday: Fabian Johnson starts in place of Patrick Herrmann. Can the Foals become the first team to score a Bundesliga goal against BVB this season? Kick-off is at 18:30 CET. 

Well, not many goals in the Bundesliga so far today but exciting games in Leipzig and Sinsheim, where RB and Hoffenheim managed to hold on against Frankfurt and Schalke respectively. 

Next up, it's the "Battle of the Borussen" - Borussia Dortmund vs Borussia Mönchengladbach. Team news to follow.

Fährmann comes out to clear a long ball but completely misjudges and Rupp is on hand to tap into an empty net. Bitter for Schalke who have been the better team here, but Julian Nagelsmann won't be complaining. Game over.

86' GOAL in Hoffenheim ... NO! Offside! Mark Uth has the ball in the net but the referee blows for offside and Schalke survive ...

Five goals in six games for Timo Werner! The German international turns well in the box and fires home past Hradecky. Can't see Frankfurt scoring two goals here ... 

66' The latest chance for Schalke falls to Max Meyer but the German slices his shot wide. Hoffenheim are unusually disorganized but Schalke just can't convert these chances.

40' Apologies for the lack of updates in the last few minutes but there's a good reason for it ... namely, that not much is happening. Frankfurt have made their first half-hearted foray into the RB Leipzig box, but that's about it. Almost half-time. 

30' A nasty looking collision in Stuttgart leaves Ausgburg's Ja-Cheol Koo looking a bit dazed. He's subsituted and replaced by Jan Moravek.

Werner can't get proper contact on Sabitzer's cross but it turns into a nice set-up for Jean-Kevin Augustin, the 20-year-old tapping in his second goal of the season at the back post. 

22' What a chance for Timo Werner in Leipzig! Forsberg flicks the ball on cleverly to Werner who is onside and in yards of space on the penalty spot but the ever-popular German international completely misses the ball.

20' Free-kick for Freiburg after Bauer brings down Terrazzino on the edge of the box. A bit of a soft decision in my opinion (and certainly not a yellow card, but there you go) but Terrazzino's strike goes into the wall. Still 0-0. 

13' GOAL! Hoffenheim 1-0 Schalke (Geiger)

The first goal of the afternoon is a beautiful finish from Dennis Geiger - his first goal for Hoffenheim. Zuber gets past Stambouli on the left and passes inside to Geiger who fires a low shot into the bottom corner from outside the box. 

11' Penalty claim in Hoffenheim! Schalke midfielder Amine Harit goes down in the box but the referee waves away the Royal Blues' appeals. At the other end, Ralf Fährmann saves from Steven Zuber's free-kick. End to end stuff on the edge of the motorway in Sinsheim ... 

8' Some sloppy passing from Mainz almost allows Hertha's Salomon Kalou to nip in but the hosts recover. 

4' Early chance for Werder Bremen against Freiburg, but Thomas Delaney puts a free header wide. 

3' Early signs in Leipzig suggesting how that match is going to develop. Possession for the hosts while Frankfurt sit in their solid 5-3-2 formation, defending that impressive away record.

VfB Stuttgart vs. FC Augsburg

Augsburg have enjoyed a fantastic start to the season, bouncing back from their opening day defeat in Hamburg to go four games unbeaten. A 3-0 thumping of Cologne and a 2-1 win over Frankfurt were topped off with the best of the lot - a 1-0 win over last season's runners-up RB Leipzig. Can Manuel Baum's men continue their impressive form away at newly-promoted Stuttgart, who lost 2-0 to Gladbach in the week?

Two of the Bundesliga's early strugglers meet at the Weserstadion, both looking for their first win of the season. 

TSG Hoffenheim vs. Schalke 04

"The Battle of the Nerds," said BILD newspaper this week ahead of this meeting of the Bundesliga's two youngest coaches, Julian Nagelsmann and Domenico Tedesco. The two both completed their German coaching license together, Tedesco coming top of the class, and both stand for a similar brand of football. 

Schalke will be looking to bounce back from their 3-0 humbling at home to Bayern Munich in the week while Hoffenheim produced an impressive comeback as they beat Mainz 3-2.

RB Leipzig vs Eintracht Frankfurt 

It's been a difficult week for the Red Bull-backed club, drawing 2-2 at home to Borussia Mönchengladbach before a 1-0 defeat on the road in Augsburg. Coach Ralph Hasenhüttl made nine changes to that team but it's a more familiar back-four today at home to Frankfurt, while Emil Forsberg returns in midfield. Naby Keita is still suspended following his red card against Gladbach. Exciting French talent Jean-Kevin Augstin starts up front ahead of Yussuf Poulsen, 

Frankfurt are unbeaten on the road this season and emphasized that with a disciplined performance in a 1-0 win over Cologne in the week. But it's a more defensive line-up in Leipzig this afternoon with Kevin-Prince Boateng, Mijat Gacinovic and Ante Rebic all starting on the bench. Sebastian Haller scored his first goal for Frankfurt against Cologne and leads the line. 

Guten Tag! Welcome to DW's live coverage of match day six in the Bundesliga. It looked like Bayern Munich's mini-crisis was over after their 3-0 win at Schalke in the week but the problems returned last night as they threw away a 2-0 lead at home to Wolfsburg. Read more here.

Borussia Dortmund can go three points of clear of the champions if they beat Borussia Mönchengladbach later. Peter Bosz is the first Bundesliga coach in history to avoid conceding a goal in his first five matches and will his side will be hoping to lay down a marker later.
