Pakistan Will Restore Judges by Mid-May

May 2, 2008

Former PM Nawaz Sharif says Pakistan’s ruling coalition will reinstate the country’s judges on May 12. His announcement came after talks with Pakistan People’s Party’s Asif Ali Zardari in Dubai to resolve differences over the issue, which had threatened to bring down the newly-formed government. An estimated 60 judges were sacked by President Musharraf last year after he imposed a state of emergency.
