Pakistan, US Reaffirm Close Ties

29/07/08July 29, 2008

Islamabad and Washington have reaffirmed their partnership in the US-led so-called War on Terror, as Pakistani premier Yousuf Raza Gilani continued his visit to the US. Following his meeting with US president George W. Bush on Monday, Gilani said his government was committed to fight extremists along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. America has been urging Pakistan to do more to tackle growing insurgency in its tribal areas, which it says is extensively used by Tailban militants as a hideout.
